Nick Seaver

Nick Seaver is a PhD student in Anthropology at UC Irvine. His dissertation research examines how engineers develop theories about taste, listening, and computation in the production of algorithmic music recommendation systems. His research interests include sound studies, classification, automaticity, quantification, and the history of computational anthropological methods. Nick previously earned an S.M. in Comparative Media Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. in Literature at Yale University.
