Ishtiaque Ahmed

Syed Ishtiaque Ahmed is a PhD student at the Department of Information Science in Cornell University. His research focuses on the social factors involved in the maintenance and repairing of technology, ICTD, and HCI4D. He has been studying the IT repairing practice in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, for his research.

Before coming to Cornell, Ishtiaque was a Lecturer at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He holds a Bachelor and a Masters degree in Computer Science from the same institution. He formed the first HCI research group in Bangladesh in 2009, and since then he has been trying to make useful connections between technology and development in Bangladeshi context. In 2011, he was awarded with the International Fulbright Science and Technology Fellowship for his PhD in Cornell University.
